Amazing Grace was written by Dr. Mary Banks in 2002. It is an epic stage production which has been performed throughout the USA and recently in Jamaica. The cast is a conglomerate of persons of different ages and from varying walks of life, including youth from some of the most volatile areas in Jamaica. The production presents a practical and relevant message of God’s redemptive work in the lives of men. It chronicles God interaction with man from the Garden of Eden, to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, and brings it into the present day realities of life. The story revolves around a modern day family comprising of an abusive, womanizing husband; a homosexual son; a daughter who is deeply affected by the happenings in the family and contemplates suicide; and a praying mother who refuses to give up on her family despite the workings of an ever-present devil. The message of hope is interspersed with humor and drama which touches every deep emotion. With all original, God inspired music, choreographed dance, anointed drama, poetry and technological effects, this production sets the bar for Christian theatre.
"It was clear that the cast and crew of Amazing Grace put much thought into the details of the production. Everything from the sound effects and graphics to the make-up, lighting and music came together brilliantly to make Amazing Grace stand out."
"The choreography throughout the production was commendable and help to lift and diversify the offering on stage. The use of color, lighting, music, and multimedia also worked in favor of the production. "
